  1. How would I pay for this service?

    You can pay for your telephone service with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Interac, and PayPal. Your monthly service is prepaid, one month in advance. Any long distance overage charges will be billed on the following month’s invoice.

  2. Are there any contracts?

    There are no contracts to sign. We operate on a prepaid, monthly basis. We only ask that if you cancel your service before one year has elapsed, you return the hardware provided. If you cancel after one year,the hardware is yours to keep.

  3. Who do I contact if I have a problem?

    The easiest way to reach support is by opening a ticket within the customer portal. Alternatively, you can send an email to support@nrtel.ca or contact us toll free at (877) 367.6005.

  4. How does the service work?

    The service works using Voice over IP (VOIP). Once you request service, you will be provided with a Voice-over-IP adapter, which is plugged into your modem/router. Your personal telephone handset then plugs into this adapter. Once the adapter and phone are connected, you can send and receive telephone calls.

  5. Do I have to be home when you set it up?

    We will mail the VoIP telephone adapter to your home address, pre-programmed with your username and password. Once the adapter arrives, you can easily install it yourself by simply plugging it in to your internet connection and connecting your telephone.

  6. Do I keep my existing number?

    Yes, you can keep your existing telephone number by transferring it to Northridge Telecom. Keeping your number is easy and only requires a few standard forms that we will provide. This process takes 7-10 business days from when we receive your documents however we can help you manage a seamless transition. Alternatively, you can opt for a new telephone number in the city of your choice.

  7. How long does it take to setup?

    Generally, it only takes one or two weeks to receive your telephone adapter in the mail. However, you can use SIP based software to begin using your new service immediately. Contact us for further details on supported SIP software.

  8. Are there any long distance charges?

    Nationwide calling coast to coast is free within Canada. International destinations (including the USA) are billed at our published long distance rate sheet. You may see our international rates by clicking "Long Distance Rate Checker" at the bottom left corner of the webpage.

  9. Is the service easy to understand?

    Yes, you simply plug our adapter into your router, and your telephone handset into the adapter. That’s it.

  10. What do you provide when I sign up?

    We provide the adapter that allows you connect to our service and take advantage of free nationwide calling and low international rates immediately. You also receive prompt technical service, and great customer service.
